A County Commissioner has many duties and responsibilities. Chief among these are:
- to establish the county’s budget;
- to set the county property tax rate;
- to provide law enforcement through the county’s sheriff;
- to establish a courthouse and jail; and
- to build and maintain county roads and bridges.
As a lifelong conservative, I understand the importance of local government, and I believe that the people most affected by local concerns are those who can best handle local problems.
Williamson County faces many issues—concerns about the county’s rapid rate of growth, a high relative level of debt, problems with suburban congestion and a litany of other transportation-related issues. To ensure these issues are dealt with appropriately, a county government must rededicate its limited resources to the legitimate tasks it is assigned to do—protecting its citizens against crime, expanding and maintaining the county’s roads, and ensuring that Williamson County remains a place where men and women are free to actively pursue the talents given to them by God without the heavy-handedness of government.
I ask for your support and vote in the upcoming 2016 Republican Primary and I look forward to meeting you on the campaign trail in the coming weeks.
